Firecracker Sandboxing for Secure Execution
A microVM and copy-on-write snapshotting model for safely executing reasoning and remediation workloads inside customer-controlled infrastructure.
Raincurve Research
Abstract
An AI system that can propose and execute remediation actions carries a materially different security surface from one that only alerts a human. Raincurve runs every reasoning and execution step inside a Firecracker microVM sandbox with copy-on-write snapshotting, isolating model execution from the infrastructure it reasons about.
MicroVM isolation
Each task runs inside its own Firecracker microVM rather than a shared long-lived process. A compromised or misbehaving execution cannot directly access the host, other sandboxes, or infrastructure beyond the explicitly granted task boundary.
Customer-controlled deployment
Copy-on-write snapshots restore each sandbox to a clean baseline quickly enough for continuous operation. This isolation model supports open-weight deployments inside customer-owned environments, keeping sensitive operational data and execution within the customer boundary.
Conclusion
Firecracker isolation and inexpensive restoration make it possible to combine meaningful security boundaries with the low-latency operation required for continuous reliability intelligence.
